Northwest Catholic 2019 Students of the Year

Northwest Catholic is proud to honor our 2019 Students of the Year, Paisley Steadman and Matthew Suk, for their achievements and contributions in the classroom, in their extracurricular activities, and in their communities.

The new grads will each receive a $1,000 Northwest Catholic scholarship to help them continue their education.

Paisley Steadman
Kennedy Catholic High School

“Paisley’s humble servant leadership is an inspiration to her peers,” said nominator Sofia Lopez. She was president of the St. Vincent de Paul Club and a leader of Kids Offering Others Care and Support. She played in the concert and jazz bands, co-founded the Hiking Club, led retreats and received the Theology Department award. She was a salutatorian at Kennedy Catholic and is an extraordinary minister of holy Communion at St. Philomena Parish in Des Moines. She will attend Loyola University in Chicago.

Matthew Suk
O’Dea High School

Matthew is a “solid well-rounded O’Dea gentleman,” said nominator John O’Neill. He was president of the National Honor Society, co-founded the Korean Club, played violin in the liturgical choir and saxophone in the band, and was named best performing arts student. He also served as school chaplain and was O’Dea’s valedictorian. A first team All-Metro soccer player, he volunteers as a coach for disadvantaged youth. He is a member of Holy Family Parish in Kirkland. He will attend the University of Washington.
