Paisley Steadman

Kennedy Catholic High School

“Paisley’s humble servant leadership is an inspiration to her peers,” said nominator Sofia Lopez. She is president of the St. Vincent de Paul Club and a leader of Kids Offering Others Care and Support. She plays in the concert and jazz bands, co-founded the Hiking Club, and has led retreats. She carries a 4.0 GPA and is an extraordinary minister of holy Communion at St. Philomena Parish in Des Moines.

John Misel

O'Dea High School

“John is an authentic leader at O’Dea,” said nominator John O’Neill. “He is a terrific role model for our student body.” He is a captain of the basketball and tennis teams, and a leader in O’Dea’s house system and mentor groups. He is a student ambassador and helps organize the school’s collection, wrapping and delivery of gifts for families in need around Christmas. He carries a 4.2 GPA.

In each edition through June, Northwest Catholic will honor students for their achievements and contributions in the classroom, in their extracurricular activities, and in their churches and communities. At the end of the school year, two Students of the Year will be selected to receive $1,000 Northwest Catholic scholarships.
