Western Washington’s 11 Catholic high schools are sending 1,457 graduates into the world this spring. On behalf of the entire Archdiocese of Seattle, Northwest Catholic is proud to honor the members of the class of 2019.

Archbishop Murphy High School

The 29th graduating class at Archbishop Murphy High School has 112 graduates, 60 men and 52 women. Father Justin Ryan celebrated the baccalaureate Mass May 30 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bothell. Commencement exercises were held May 31 at Everett Community College.

The valedictorian is Cathleen Barron. The salutatorian is Samson Irish-Lodge.

Bellarmine Preparatory School

The 2019 graduating class at Bellarmine Preparatory School includes 207 students, 111 men and 96 women. It is the school’s 91st graduating class. Jesuit Father Alejandro Baez was the celebrant and homilist at the baccalaureate Mass May 30. Commencement exercises were held June 2 at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall. The academic speaker was Nadine Añel. The class speaker was Jaeveon Cunningham. The faculty speaker was Jim Dempsey.

Bishop Blanchet High School

Bishop Blanchet High School’s 61st graduating class has 196 members, 107 men and 89 women. Auxiliary Bishop Daniel Mueggenborg was the celebrant and homilist at the baccalaureate Mass May 31. Commencement exercises were held that evening at the school.

The valedictorians are Matthew Helton of St. Joseph Parish in Seattle and Leah McIntyre of Holy Rosary Parish in Seattle. The salutatorian is Pieran Robert of St. Therese Parish in Seattle.

Eastside Catholic High School

The class of 2019 at Eastside Catholic High School includes 175 graduates, 91 men and 84 women. It is the school’s 37th graduating class. Father William Heric was the celebrant and homilist at the baccalaureate Mass May 31. Commencement exercises were June 3 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle.

The valedictorians are Owen Bernstein of Mary, Queen of Peace Parish in Sammamish, Benjamin Collins of Sacred Heart Parish in Bellevue, Mary Foley of Sacred Heart Parish in Bellevue, Elizabeth Iwicki of Mary, Queen of Peace Parish in Sammamish, Gracyn Kuerner, Isabel Scott, Max Stewart Steele and Tia Vu of St. Stephen the Martyr Parish in Renton.

The salutatorians are Barret Albright, Elizabeth Brummer, Madeline Kerbs, Anna Leist, Angel Lin of St. Madeleine Sophie Parish in Bellevue, Benjamin Lombardi of St. Joseph Parish in Issaquah and Michael Sentman.

Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart

The 111th graduating class at Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart includes 52 women. On June 3 Jesuit Father Alejandro Baez celebrated a baccalaureate Mass in the Sacred Heart Chapel on campus. Kriss Turner Towner was the speaker at the commencement exercises on June 4 at St. Madeleine Sophie Church in Bellevue.

Audrey Sarin is the valedictorian. Rachel Qiu is the salutatorian.

Holy Names Academy

The 2019 graduating class is the 139th for Holy Names Academy, and it includes 163 women. A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 23 at St. James Cathedral, with Father Michael Ryan as celebrant and homilist. The commencement exercises were held May 26 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. The speaker was Donna Giordano.

The valedictorians are Olivia Acarregui, Elsa Andrews, Lyra D’Souza, Hannah Diaz, Aislinn Jones, Allison McGinnis, Naomi Nenninger, Gracie Patten, Sophia Petersen, Kari Rogers, Margaret Sullivan and Clare Tuch.

John F. Kennedy Catholic High School

John F. Kennedy Catholic High School’s 50th graduating class is composed of 204 students, 106 men and 98 women. Father Jose Alvarez was the celebrant and homilist at a baccalaureate Mass May 31 at the school. Commencement exercises were held that evening at the school.

The valedictorians are Chloe Dahleen of Holy Rosary Parish in Seattle and Lynn Nguyen of St. Bernadette Parish in Seattle. The salutatorians are Grace Grotz of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Burien, Paisley Steadman of St. Philomena Parish in Des Moines and Samantha Schrantz of Holy Rosary Parish in Seattle.

O’Dea High School

The class of 2019 at O’Dea High School includes 108 men. It is the school’s 94th graduating class. The baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were held May 29 at St. James Cathedral, with Father Michael Ryan as celebrant and homilist.

The valedictorian is Matthew Won-Joong Suk of Holy Family Parish in Kirkland. The salutatorian is Henry Alan Przelenski of Sacred Heart Parish in Bellevue.

Pope John Paul II High School

Pope John Paul II High School’s seventh graduating class includes 19 students, nine men and 10 women. Father Jim Lee was the celebrant and homilist at a baccalaureate Mass May. Commencement exercises were held June 1 at St. Michael Westside Chapel in Olympia. Emily Suda was the speaker.

The valedictorian is Caden Deutscher of St. Michael Parish in Olympia. The salutatorian is Ryan Kapust of St. Michael Parish in Olympia.

Seattle Preparatory School

Seattle Preparatory School is graduating 172 seniors this year, 80 men and 92 women. A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated May 22 at St. James Cathedral, with Jesuit Father Ryan Rallanka celebrating. Commencement exercises were held May 24 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. Gabi Jeakle and Carson Stockwell spoke.

Seton Catholic High School

Seton Catholic High School’s eighth graduating class is made up of 49 students, 28 men and 21 women. Fathers Thomas Belleque and Gary Lazzeroni celebrated a baccalaureate Mass May 31 at St. Joseph Church in Vancouver. Commencement exercises were held June 1 at the school.

The valedictorians are Joshue Freitag, Bridget Kash and Alysia King of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Camas.
