Washington bishops support bill to repeal death penalty

OLYMPIA – The Catholic bishops of Washington state submitted testimony Tuesday in support of Senate Bill 5339, which seeks to repeal the death penalty and require that life imprisonment without the possibility of parole become the sentence for aggravated first degree murder convictions.

Anti-death penalty advocate honored with Hunthausen Award

Marian Malonson has been fighting for social justice and against the death penalty for years. Still, she was stunned to learn she is the recipient of the 2015 Archbishop Raymond G. Hunthausen Humanitarian Award, given by Catholic Community Services of Western Washington.
