Youth synod document says faith can combat relativism

VATICAN CITY – The Synod of Bishops released Thursday an English translation of the final document of the 2018 session on young people, faith and vocational discernment. The document encourages young people to seek an authentic encounter with God, instead of adopting a morally relativistic outlook on life.

Youth synod final report released, addresses gender, sexuality

VATICAN CITY – The final report of the fifteenth general session of the Synod of Bishops, held on the topics of young people, faith and vocational discernment, was released Saturday. The document says the church must find new ways of presenting its teaching on sexuality and continue to “accompany” and “listen to” people with same-sex attraction.

Northwest Catholic’s fifth annual student essay contest asked students at Western Washington’s 74 Catholic schools to answer the question “How can you share Jesus with others?”

The essays were judged by a panel drawn from the staffs of Northwest Catholic, the archdiocesan Office for Catholic Schools and the Fulcrum Foundation. We are proud to present the winning high school, middle school and elementary school essays.
