Carl A. BuckSEATTLECarl Buck, a member of Holy Rosary Parish, died on April 5 of congestive heart failure. He was 91.

He was born and raised in Seattle and served in the Navy from 1942–45. He attended St. George School in Beacon Hill and O’Dea High School in Seattle.

He worked as a production manager for The Boeing Company for almost 40 years until his retirement in 1984. He contributed a portion of every paycheck to various Catholic charities.

As a resident at Providence Mount St. Vincent he attended daily Mass, also volunteering to take other residents into the chapel with him for Mass.

He was related to St. André Bessette, who was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; son, John; and daughter, Eleanor.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Armstrong and Carolann Hiller; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 13 at Providence Mount St. Vincent Chapel.

Neil S. FeyEDMONDS

Neil Fey, a member of St. Pius X Parish, died of natural causes on April 12. He was 91.

He was born in Seattle and attended Saint Martin’s University in Lacey. He married his wife of 63 years, Iva Fey, on April 22, 1950.

He worked as a warehouseman at Western Electric for 33 years until his retirement in 1981.

He enjoyed gardening, and he was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Independent Order of Foresters.

He is survived by his wife, Iva; sons, Paul and Michael; daughters, Yvonne, Laura and Barbara; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 17 at St. Pius X Church.

Daniel A. HawkinsonMOUNTLAKE TERRACE

Daniel Hawkinson, a member of St. Pius X Parish, died March 22 of leukemia and Parkinson’s disease. He was 73.

He was born and raised in Seattle, graduated from Bishop Blanchet High School and attended Seattle University. He served in the U.S. Army for two years.

He worked as an optician for 40 years at businesses such as Columbian Optical, Vista Optical and Lenscrafters. He retired on 2001.

He was a member of the Retail Clerks Union and the Lyons Club, and he volunteered feeding the poor at Blessed Sacrament Church in Seattle.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, MaryAnn; son, Mark; daughter, Debbie; and two grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 6 at St. Catherine Church.

Robert W. “Bill” HerzogRENTON

Robert Herzog, a member of St. Anthony Parish, died of natural causes on March 30. He was 90.

He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and moved to Washington as a young man. He served as a private in the U.S. Army.

He worked as an engineering draftsman for The Boeing Company until his retirement in 1988. He was also a member of SPEA and the Northwest Opal Association.

He was a Mariners fan whose hobbies included flying and gardening. He enjoyed taking walks, splitting wood and building fires.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Carole; brother, Donald; sister, Shirley; daughters, Marita, Meredith, Michelle and Malinda; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 8 at St. Anthony Church.

Patricia Anne Koreski KindallSEATTLE

Patricia Kindall, a member of Holy Rosary Parish, died on April 4. She was 81.

She was born in Yakima and moved to Seattle as a young woman. She attended Seattle University and worked as a medical records librarian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; and her sister, Lorraine Mitzlaff.

Surviving members of her family include her brother, Robert; and sons, Kevin, Thomas and John.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 12 at Holy Rosary Church.

Sister Noreen Linane, CSJP (Sister Euphemia)BELLEVUE

Sister Noreen Linane, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, died Jan. 9.

She was born in Ballydonohue, County Kerry, Ireland, the fourth of five children.

She joined the postulancy of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in Cabra, Newry, Northern Ireland, and started her novitiate in Nottingham and Rearsby, England. After World War II, she and the other Cabra sisters travelled by ship to New Jersey. She then traveled by train to Washington state. After finishing her novitiate in Bellingham in 1945, she became an RN at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham.

She served as a surgical nurse and supervisor in PeaceHealth hospitals of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in Bellingham, Longview and Wenatchee, and in Eugene, Ore. She was an administrator of hospitals in Wenatchee and Rossland, British Columbia.

She later worked in pastoral care in Bellingham, Longview and at the Josephinum in Seattle. During an active retirement, she ministered as office manager at Jubilee Women’s Center, Seattle. In recent years she lived at St. Mary-on-the-Lake, Bellevue, where her artistry with furniture restoration, fabric design and flower arrangement was greatly appreciated and admired.

She is survived by a sister, Sister Elizabeth Linnane, C.S.J.P.; and nephews and nieces in Ireland and Chicago.A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 14 at St. Mary-on-the-Lake.

Sister Mildred Morrissey, CSJP

BELLEVUE

Sister Mildred Morrissey, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, died March 22. She was 83.

She was born in Sheridan, Ore., one of seven girls. In 1944 she and her twin sister, Mary, moved to Seattle to join their older sister Betty, who was living at St. Teresa’s Residence for women, administered by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace.

She entered the novitiate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in Bellingham in 1951 and professed perpetual vows in 1956.

She received a B.A. in education from Fort Wright College in Spokane and Washington State LPN certification. From 1955–69, she taught at St. Joseph School in Nelson, British Columbia, St. Michael School in Trail, British Columbia., and St. Margaret and St. Therese schools in Seattle.

She served as a practical nurse at St. Anthony Hospital in Wenatchee, St. John Medical Center in Longview and at the Josephinum retirement residence in Seattle. Since 1986, she had lived at St. Mary-on-the-Lake in Bellevue, first serving on the nursing staff and as office receptionist, and later in retirement with prayer and hospitality as her focus.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Betty and Catherine.

She is survived by her sisters Dorothy, Alice, Harriet and Mary; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated March 27 at St. Mary-on-the-Lake.

BELLEVUE

Sister Zitamarie Poelzer, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, died April 13. She was 90.

She was born Florence Veronica Poelzer in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Canada, the second of 12 children. She entered the novitiate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in Bellingham 1940 and professed perpetual vows in 1946.

She received a B.S. in mathematics and a master’s in education from Seattle University; an M.A. from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, Calif., and a master’s in herbology and nutrition in Canada.

She taught in grade and high schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle and the Diocese of Yakima. In British Columbia she was teacher and principal in Fernie and a professor at Notre Dame University in Nelson. In Oregon, Sister Zitamarie was involved in campus and pastoral ministry.

She is survived by her sisters, Sister Irene, SFCC, Sister Dolores, M.M., and Mildred Lisowski; and brothers, Jerome, Raphael and Bernard.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 18 at St. Mary-on-the-Lake.

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” White Lutt RobinsonBELLEVUE

Mary Robinson, member of St. Madeleine Sophie Parish in Bellevue, died of squamous cell carcinoma on March 28. She was 81.

She was born in Gregory, S.D. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and attended Creighton University in Nebraska. She moved from Pennsylvania to Western Washington 30 years ago.

She enjoyed writing detailed letters to her friends, traveling to Ireland, live theater and her cats.

She was a member of the Cascade Chapter of the Society of Mayflower Descendants, Daughters of the America Revolution, the Seattle Genealogical Society and the Trenchers and Flagoners.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Lutt Sr.; and her second husband, Paul Robinson. She is survived by her sister, Jean Looy; and son, Paul Lutt.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. May 4 at St. Madeleine Sophie Church.
