Richard John Holden BollardSEATTLE

Richard Bollard, a member of Assumption Parish, died June 28. He was 86.

He was born in Hamilton, New Zealand, and received a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University. He worked as a structural design engineer for the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority. In 1961 he and his family moved to Seattle where he was a professor of aeronautics and astronautics at the University of Washington for 35 years.

He was a founding member of the Seattle-Christchurch Sister City Association, and an active member of the New Zealanders of Seattle Association, Woodland Park Zoo, the Burke Museum and the arboretum. In 1997 he was honored by the Queen of England as an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to New Zealand interests in the United States. He was also the first Honorary New Zealand Consul to the Northwest.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Eve Bollard.

Survivors include his sons, Bob and Tim; daughters, Sandy Brodahl and Barbara Breen; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.

A funeral Mass was celebrated July 7 at Assumption Church.

Mary Pugel FattoriniSEATTLE

Mary Fattorini, a member of St. Benedict Parish, died April 23. She was 96.

She was born in Black Diamond and graduated from Franklin High School. She was a homemaker, wife and mother. She volunteered with the American Slavic Women’s Club, American Lung Association and American Heart Association. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Fattorini Sr.

Survivors include her son, John Fattorini Jr.; daughter, Marianne Goff; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 29 at St. Benedict Church.

Sister Patricia (Casia) Galhouse, BVM DUBUQUE, Iowa

Sister Patricia Galhouse of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who taught at St. Pius X School in Mountlake Terrace from 1955-57, died June 30. She was 88.

She was born in Chicago on Feb. 12, 1926. She entered the BVM congregation on Sept. 8, 1944, and professed first vows on March 19, 1947, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1952.

She taught elementary school and was principal in Davenport, Clinton, Cedar Falls, Iowa City, Tama and Dubuque, Iowa; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Kansas City, Missouri; Milwaukee; and Los Angeles. She was librarian in West Hempstead, New York.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rita Gladys Galhouse; and a brother, Clifford Charles Galhouse.

She is survived by nephews and nieces-in-law. Memorials may be given to the Sisters of Charity, BVM Support Fund, 1100 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, Iowa 52003, or online.

Marie Morrison GaunttSEATTLE

Marie Gauntt, a member of St. Luke Parish in Shoreline, died May 4. She was 75.

She was born in National (at the base of Mount Rainier) and graduated from Holy Names Academy in 1956.

She worked as a bookkeeper at St. Luke Parish before retiring in 2009. She was involved with her children’s scouting and sports activities, as well as enjoying traveling, sewing and the Mariners.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, James; sons, Ryan and Ian; daughters, Shannon Cochran, Julie Gauntt and Wendy Strand; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

A funeral Mass was celebrated May 12 at St. Luke Church.

Dorothee Coletti LundgrenAUBURN

Dorothee Lundgren, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Federal Way, died June 3 from complications of Alzheimer’s. She was 68.

She was born in Trier, Germany. She was a Tupperware manager before retiring in 1995.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Lundgren; sons, David and Kevin; daughter, Christina Burnaby; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated June 28 at St. Vincent de Paul Church.
