Seeds of the Word - The fire of love

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Come Holy Spirit, because without noticing, we have separated ourselves from you, from your love, from your presence in our lives. We wander astray, chasing a mirage that vanishes when we finally reach it.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Come Eternal Paraclete, for it seems we need you more than ever before. Let your violent wind break into the Upper Rooms of our homes, opening wide the windows of our hearts. Make us humble, make us tremble, make our deepest selves vibrate. Awaken us from the soporific lethargy that makes us idle, and impel us into a life we live to the full.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Fill our hearts, for we have left them empty. By filling them with nothing but ourselves, we have nonchalantly made them unable to be filled with the true love that burns like a passionate fire. We have filled ourselves with mundane things, not making room for what makes us holy.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Ignite your divine fire, for we walk in darkness. Sadness, fear, confusion and sin cast their suffocating shadow upon us, blinding us to your light that “shines within the hearts of yours, and our inmost being fills” (Pentecost Sequence). We try to enlighten ourselves by igniting vain flames, ephemeral lights, chimeras and no more — missing the refulgent light of your flames of wisdom. Illuminate our lives with your flames, warm our freezing souls, grant us the grace of being burned by you, so we can give light to others.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Your authentic, ardent, passionate love. A love whose flame is never extinguished, that warms us when we are sad and makes us vibrate with joy. A love that makes us empty ourselves to give it all to others. A generous love that holds nothing to itself, but is always ready to share it all. Third Person of the Holy Trinity, eternal love between the Father and the Son, help us never to be ashamed of loving with a pure heart. Never to be afraid of loving madly. Never to hesitate to love with passion.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Penetrate the depths of our soul, O Light divine, and enrich us. See our inner void when we lack you. See the power of sin when you don’t blow in our hearts. Make pure, renew and sanctify every day of our lives. Amen.

Be passionate about our faith!
