Archbishop J. Peter Sartain reflects on his time in the Archdiocese of Seattle

Archbishop Paul D. Etienne has written a letter to the people of the Archdiocese of Seattle on the occasion of his succession of Archbishop J. Peter Sartain as archbishop of Seattle on September 3.

SEATTLE – Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Archbishop J. Peter Sartain, and Coadjutor Archbishop Paul D. Etienne has automatically succeeded him as head of the Archdiocese of Seattle.

SEATTLE – The bishops of the Archdiocese of Seattle issued a statement August 27 affirming the sanctity of life and reiterating the Catholic Church’s opposition to assisted suicide, in response to an Associated Press story about a Seattle man, Robert Fuller, who used a fatal drug combination to end his own life May 10 under Washington state’s Death With Dignity Act.

TACOMA – Holy Rosary Church, which has been a visible sign of faith in Tacoma for nearly a century, will be demolished “due to its unsafe condition,” according to a decree issued August 25 by Archbishop J. Peter Sartain.
