WASHINGTON – The bishop of El Paso, Texas, met with the families of those who were killed and wounded during the August 3 shooting at a Walmart in the city where he serves, and in a statement following the meeting said his heart “was breaking,” after seeing up-close the human aftermath of the crime.
Catholics around the archdiocese are invited to show solidarity with immigrant and refugee families by joining prayer vigils at St. James Cathedral and seven parish churches on Thursday, August 8.
SAN FRANCISCO – Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone of San Francisco is urging Catholics in the archdiocese to join in a novena for the defeat of a “dangerous and unprecedented” bill requiring California State and University of California college health centers to provide medication for abortions.
SEATTLE – Claudia Gonzalez and her family traveled from North Bend to join their bishops and fellow Catholics in the October 4 Prayer of Repentance and Healing at St. James Cathedral.
