Robert DuBois

EVERETT – Robert Daniel DuBois of Everett died of bladder cancer March 1, 2024, at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. He was 79.

Born Sept. 26, 1944, in Utica, New York, he graduated from high school and community college. He married Jane Gayley in September 1968 in Aberdeen, Maryland.

He was a ships’ pilot for the Association of Maryland Pilots for 38 years, retiring in July 2002.

A member of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Everett, he enjoyed golfing, skiing and boating. For 20 years, he and his wife lived full time on trawlers. They cruised the East Coast for 12 years in a 50-foot trawler, covering about 35,000 miles, then spent eight years based in Everett, cruising on another trawler in Puget Sound and Canadian waters. They moved back on shore in 2021.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Gayley DuBois, daughters Stephanie DuBois (Richard) Butler and Jennifer DuBois (Andrew) Rasmussen, brother F. William DuBois, sister Mary D. Elliott and four grandchildren, Marie and Kate Butler and Erik and Elle Rasmussen.

No services were held. Interment was March 25, 2024, at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline.
