Northwest Catholic magazine has won 15 Catholic Press Awards for writing, photography, advertising and design, including first place for best redesign among all magazine entries.

In the Communications Division, the Archdiocese of Seattle won a second-place honor for Archbishop Paul D. Etienne’s letter on unity, awarded in the category of best initiative or campaign – package.

The awards from the Catholic Media Association (formerly the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada) were announced June 10 during the virtual Catholic Media Conference. Northwest Catholic’s awards include second place for regular columns written by Auxiliary Bishops Eusebio Elizondo and Daniel Mueggenborg, and third place among all magazines for best coverage of racial inequities.

“These awards reflect the hard work and commitment to excellence that go into every aspect of Northwest Catholic,” said Kevin Birnbaum, editor and associate publisher. “I’m grateful to be part of this team that is so dedicated to sharing the Gospel and serving the people of the Archdiocese of Seattle.”
