Patricia ‘Pat’ Proulx

RENTON — Longtime Renton resident Patricia “Pat” Proulx died of Alzheimer’s disease July 19, 2023, in Renton. She was 83.

She was born July 30, 1939, in St. Maries, Idaho, to Johnny and Mildred Miller. From the ages of 12 to 15, she spent summers working as a cook for loggers employed by her family’s logging business. She attended St. Maries High School and worked at a local diner, where she met her future husband, Paul Proulx, in June 1956. They married on March 2, 1957, and had five children.

Her husband worked for a railroad company for 10 years, and the family lived in various cities, including Auburn. When he went to work for the city of Renton, the family moved to Federal Way, then Renton. Pat worked in various occupations over the years, including at a Sears jewelry/cosmetics counter, in a restaurant with her son David, and as an administrative assistant for US West. Her job moved her to Bellevue, where she worked for US West Direct until retiring from the company nearly 20 years later. She later helped as a receptionist for TransTech Electric, where she and her husband worked until they retired.

She was a member of St. Anthony Parish in Renton.

She was very active in her children’s lives, attending all their sporting events while they were growing up. She pursued a variety of hobbies, including sewing, embroidery and cooking. She enjoyed boating — fishing and crabbing with her family on Puget Sound and in the Strait of Juan de Fuca — and camping with her husband in their fifth-wheel trailer at Rimrock Meadows in Eastern Washington.

She was preceded in death by her brother Billy Miller and grandson Christopher Proulx.

She is survived by her husband Paul; sons Victor (Gail), David (Maria), Mike (Kimberli) and Jacob (Michelle); daughter Teresa (Levi Mitchell); sister Cheri Dudziak; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A vigil service and funeral Mass were held Aug. 11 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Federal Way. Interment was at Gethsemane Cemetery in Federal Way.
