Alice Lamken

SEATTLE — Alice Irene Lamken died April 30, 2023, at home after a 12-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was 82.

She was born July 3, 1940, in Seattle to Herbert F. and Virginia L. Cleaver. A lifelong resident of Seattle, she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1958 and married Stephen Bruce Lamken on May 21, 1960. She worked at the Knitting Needle in the University District and later was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Seattle, where she had been a member of the choir, a Camp Fire Girls leader for her daughters, a den mother for her son’s Boy Scout troop and athletic director.

She was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, and participated as a Mariner Scout. A member of Queen City Yacht Club, she enjoyed boating on the family’s Lake Union Dreamboat, the Marian II.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen, sister Charlotte Crane and brothers William and John Cleaver.

She is survived by her son Stephen L. (Sharla) Lamken; daughters Anne M. (Andy) Whipple, Laurie J. (Brian Liening) Rushevics and Kristin L. (Bob) Stevenson; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 19 at Calvary Cemetery in Seattle, followed by a memorial gathering at 1 p.m. Aug. 19 at Queen City Yacht Club in Seattle.
