SEATTLE — The Fulcrum Foundation, which provides tuition assistance, leadership development and financial support to Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle, has received a $5 million grant from the Norcliffe Foundation.

The grant represents “one of the most significant investments in Catholic elementary education in Western Washington in many years,” an announcement from the Fulcrum Foundation said, adding that it “will provide critical support for many Catholic elementary schools.”

Fulcrum said the grant “reflects a shared commitment between Fulcrum and Norcliffe to strengthen Catholic schools as vibrant centers of academic excellence, faith formation and community impact.”

The mission of the Seattle-based Norcliffe Foundation “is to improve the quality of life for all people in our community.” It supports organizations involved in human services, health care, education, arts and culture and more.

“We are deeply grateful to the Norcliffe Foundation for their extraordinary generosity and vision,” said Vivian Shannon, executive director of the Fulcrum Foundation. “This investment will help our schools thrive and will directly impact thousands of students whose lives are transformed through Catholic education each year.”

Amy Hall, the senior director of advancement for the Fulcrum Foundation, called the grant “an investment in students, teachers and entire communities.”

She also praised the Norcliffe Foundation for recognizing “the essential role Catholic schools play in forming young people who lead lives of faith, service and purpose.”

In the 2024-25 fiscal year, the Fulcrum Foundation distributed $3.8 million in tuition assistance, $9.6 million to Catholic schools for operational aid and building improvements and $564,000 for teacher leadership development.
