SEATTLE – Northwest Catholic is inviting K-12 students to create artwork for the cover of the magazine’s December/January issue.

The contest theme is “The First Christmas” — Holy Family, angels, shepherds, manger, Magi — whatever the birth of Jesus inspires a student to draw, paint or otherwise create.

“We can’t wait to see the creativity of students from parishes and schools around our archdiocese,” said Jean Parietti, interim editor of Northwest Catholic.

The contest is open to students in grades K-12 who attend a Catholic parish or Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Seattle. Entry deadline is Oct. 17, 2022.

To enter:

  • Create artwork at least 8.5x11 inches in size, with a vertical orientation (horizontal won’t work).
  • Take a photo of the artwork.
  • Visit the contest entry page: nwcatholic.org/cover-contest.
  • Fill out the entry form with name, age, grade, parish and/or school, phone number and email address, and then upload your photo.
  • Keep the original artwork in case it’s selected as the winner.

Entries can also be emailed to [email protected] with all the required information.

Entries will be judged by the staff of Northwest Catholic. The winning entry will become the cover of the December/January issue. The winner will be notified in late October.
