Elizabeth Pribble

SAMMAMISH — Elizabeth “Liz” Pribble of Tacoma died March 27, 2023, in Sammamish. She was 93.

Born Oct. 8, 1929, in Dixon, Illinois, to Hungarian immigrants, she attended Dixon High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Northern Illinois University. She taught English in Illinois before moving to Los Angeles to become a flight attendant for TACA International Airlines.

Later she moved to Riverside, California, where she worked for Rohr Aircraft and met her future husband, Robert I. Pribble. They were married Sept. 4, 1954, in Riverside. When he was hired by The Boeing Company, the family moved to Federal Way. He died of lung cancer at age 49.

She resumed her flying career as a flight attendant instructor for West Coast Airlines, then she joined Northwest Airlines (NWA). She was a flight attendant supervisor when she retired after 26 years with NWA.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Federal Way, where she served on the funeral committee and the justice commission. She believed it was essential to give back to her community, so she volunteered for numerous civil, political, and community service organizations. She was active in the American Association of University Women.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Randy) Harrison; son, John (Erin) Pribble; stepson, Robert Carter; grandchildren, Megan (Greg) Hnilo and Nicholas Pribble; two step-grandchildren, Tyler Harrison and Robert Spencer (Heather) Harrison; great-granddaughter Charlotte Hnilo; two step-great-grandchildren, Cedar and Robin Harrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was held April 11 at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Interment was at Bonney Watson/Washington Memorial Park in SeaTac.

Memorial donations may be made to the endowment fund at St. Vincent de Paul School in Federal Way.
